Timetable for the royal coronation ceremony

May 4 (Saturday)
The king will officially be crowned on May 4.

May 5 (Sunday)
A royal parade will take place in Bangkok on May 5. This day will see the inauguration of the king’s official name and signature.

May 6 (Monday)
Events will take place at the Grand Palace in Bangkok on May 6 with HM King Vajiralongkorn meeting with foreign diplomats and members of the public.

The Grand Palace is likely to be closed from May 4-6. It is also possible there may be restricted access for rehearsals in the lead up to the coronation. Road closures are also likely to be in effect in the Old City area of Bangkok during early May. Elsewhere, transport should all run as normal.
